The Ladies of Theta Pi Epsilon Sorority, Inc. had an extravagant experience this year at the 2019 LGBT Greek Weekend in Atlanta. Please keep in mind that there were many activities going on and only so much of Theta, so to the activities we missed, we apologize and hope to catch you next year.
We touched down in Atlanta on Friday, August 30, 2019. We were full of excitement and extremely hungry. Soror A. Hall had a 9 hour ride, so it was imperative that Theta fulfilled Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and located food as soon as possible. We went to Twisted Soul Cookhouse and Pours located in West Midtown, Atlanta. The food was AMAZING! Everyone’s eyes stopped at the first option on the entrees menu ... Southern Marinated Fried Chicken. Granted, we knew the theme of the LGBT Greek Luncheon was “Remember, Rise, Respect” but we promise you it was as if someone’s great great grandmother was in the kitchen. This dish consisted of 3 cheese macaroni, collard green rolls, and pot liquor garnished with a sweet potato apple chutney. This restaurant has been frequented by Food Networks, Guy Fieri twice (we took a pic of the stamped wall). As if this restaurant couldn’t get any better, the chef and owner, Deborah VanTrece is an African American female and member of the LGBT community!
September 1, 2019 was the LGBT Greek Luncheon. Let’s just say this event was very informative and a pleasure to attend. It was heartwarming to see the various organizations receive recognition for their hard work in the community. The brunch was great and the vendors were superb. Soror T. Pettway and her spouse had the opportunity to participate in the No Hate Campaign and took some cool photos. We don’t know if there are any Love and Hip Hop Miami fans in the cyber building, but Ms. Veronica Vega was in the building! We really enjoyed the opportunity we had interacting with other organizations and vendors and we look forward to next years event.
After all of the action, Theta turned in for the night eating pizza, talking smack, and best of all Soror A. Hall got engaged to a wonderful woman we affectionately call, “Bae!” 📷️
September 2, 2019 was the day of Atlanta Black Pride and LGBT Greeks in the Park at Candler Park. Theta started the day off with brunch at Suite Lounge across from the Georgia Aquarium. Let us tell you, this wasn’t an ordinary brunch, it was even better!!! They had a DJ, the DJ had a hype man, hookah, lemon drop shots, and oh yeah great brunch. We had a blast! We danced to everything from the Electric Slide to City Girls! We then left the spot and headed to the park.
Ms. Ruby’s Lemonade was so refreshing on a hot Atlanta day. There was a Jamaican truck that had some really good Jamaican food too. Soror A. Hall and her fiancé experienced a taste of the island while kicked back talking with members of LGBT Greek community.
Theta Pi Epsilon Sorority, Inc. would like to extend a special shout out to Amber “Q-Pid” Moore for all of the hard work she put into the park! It was great.
September 3, 2019 was sad because Theta parted ways and went back to Alabama and Virginia. However, be on the lookout for us because in 2020 we gone do it again!!!
