A weekend of Pride and Community

Theta Pi Epsilon Sorority, Inc. participated in its very first pride parade via Central Alabama Pride on June 9, 2018. Theta members, Adriel "High PrioriTy" Hall, Davida "InTrinsic" Hill, and Toria "Klever" Pettway interacted with those in support of the LGBT community in Birmingham, Alabama by informing them of the sorority and various things they do amongst the community. Several connections were made and it was awesome to be a part of something so major in the Birmingham LGBT Community!

On June 10, 2018, Theta Pi Epsilon Sorority, Inc. accompanied Sigma Omega Phi Fraternity, Inc. member, Shannis "InTenSiiPhii" Searcy, as well as several other volunteers of the LGBT community in providing community service to the homeless population of Lynn Park in Birmingham, AL. During this act of service over 50 homeless men and women were provided with a brown bag lunch. This lunch consisted of turkey and cheese sandwiches, mayo and mustard packets, chips, an apple, as well as an ice cold bottle of water with a flavor packet. In addition, each lunch recipient received a personal hygiene reusable bag consisting of a toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, sunscreen, soap, 3 bath rags, deodorant, lotion, shampoo, and conditioner. As these two organizations demonstrated LGBT Greek love, a local husband and wife donated apples to go with the brown bag lunches, thus making the lunch nutritionally complete! What a blessing!

As the organizations and volunteers were leaving, one of the men that received a lunch and personal hygiene bag came over to say thanks. He mentioned that he had recently got a job at a local plant and that these items will help ensure that he will go to work feeling confident that he is smelling fresh. It was then that WE all knew our work was successfully done.
